Change Your Perspective

Some days are harder than others; there is no doubt about that. And during those hard days, it feels like nothing will go our way. We search for ways to fast forward in hopes of escaping the downward spiral that is our day. The good news is, you can escape that downward spiral. And it’s not by fast forwarding; it’s by changing your perspective.

By changing your perspective, you let go of all negativity and allow yourself to live in the present moment. The greatest gift you can give to anyone in this life, including yourself, is your presence. The second you begin appreciating what you have instead of feeling sorry for yourself, is the second you change the narrative from “poor me” to “lucky me.”

Sometimes, we forget how lucky we truly are. There are 780 MILLION people around the world without access to clean drinking water. Approximately 795 MILLION people around the world are malnourished. Does that change your thinking? It should. No matter how bad things may seem, it could always be worse. If you have the opportunity to even read this, there are billions of people from around the world that would switch places with you in a heartbeat.

So I encourage you to always keep things in perspective. The next time the barista at Starbucks messes up your coffee, remember how lucky you are to have the money to buy that coffee. The next time your boss is a jerk, remember how lucky you are to have a job or the ability to quit. You possess the ability to change your mindset. And with the right mindset, you can turn one of the worst days into one of the best.
